Why is a Raven Like a Writings Desk

This piece is very special to me as it was the first piece of furniture I designed and created. Why is a raven like a writing desk is a quote from Alice in wonderland, said by the Mad Hatter to Alice. Its famous as a quote of a riddle that had no answer, and this felt appropriate for me with my first piece as I didn’t know where this change in career would lead.

The piece is make from locally sourced olive ash. The limbs of the arches are half lapped into each other and the desk top, this allows the curved lines to continue uninterrupted and helps the eyes flow naturally around the around the piece.
